On Friday we made a special Trip over to the library to have stories with Tamati Coffey. Luckily for us we were the only ones in the audience so that meant we had him all to ourselves. He told us who he was, where he came from, and what he wanted to be growing up. The Tamariki were also very curious as to what Tamatis very large Pounamu was. He explained to the Tamariki that he got it given to him when he got his new job in parliament, explaining that it was a shield that protected him from any bad things. He even allowed all the Tamariki to get a closer look and to touch it. Tamati read the Tamariki a story that they've been wanting to read for ages (The Gruffalo's Child) and he even had a bit of time at the end to sing their favourite song with them.. Baby Shark!
