Our local curriculum/Marautanga a rohe - Pukuatua

Our local curriculum key statement for Pukuatua Street:

For us, local curriculum means building a responsive and empowering curriculum that values all members of our learning community.

Children learn and grow in an environment that celebrates culture, ethnicity and diversity, and this in turn strengthens their identity as learners, capable and competent as life-long learners.

Te Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum, provides a framework on which we can weave a curriculum that is culturally responsive and locally based on the learning aspirations and curriculum priorities we have set through collaboration with tamariki, whanau and kaiako.

In this way, we are invoking the metaphor of Te Whāriki being a mat for all to stand on.

He aha te mea nui o te ao
What is the most important thing in the world?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
It is the people, it is the people, it is the people
