About Us

Meet as strangers – leave as friends.

Past and present families will testify you enter the centres as strangers but leave as friends. CCQE’s commitment to working in a true partnership with parents and caregivers enables a genuine connection with the whole whānau (family) ensuring each child’s needs are met.

CCQE was established in 2003 by owner/operator Sheryl Terlesk with the vision to provide quality childcare in a centralised location. Two decades later, the centres remain privately owned, providing safe and nurturing environments for tamariki (children) to thrive.

The centres are brimming with educational resources, outdoor opportunities and most importantly, experienced, warm and loving teachers who treat each child with respect and as an individual.

Both centres work alongside our Te Whāriki – Early Childhood Curriculum (2017) to ensure tamariki are not only having fun but are learning and developing new skills.

Our Vision

Central City Quality Edu-care is guided by our vision to facilitate children’s learning and development at their own pace, according to their own potential, and to provide an environment where children are encouraged to become independent and caring members of the community.

Tamariki are at the centre of our curriculum, supported by experienced kaiako, our tamariki will develop skills for life, in a warm and nurturing play-based learning environment.

Together we have identified four core components that underpin our teaching;

Our Core Components

Aroha (Love)

An individual approach to each child.

Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti aroha o tātaou mahi. Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work.

Pono (Genuine)

Being a team we work as one to achieve all outcomes.

Ehara taku toa e te toa takitahi, engari he toa takimano. My strength is not that of an individual, but that of the collective.

Mana (Strength)

Understanding that each child and their families have their aspirations for their tamaiti.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini. I come not with my strengths but bring with me the gifts, talents and strengths of my family, tribe and ancestors.

Wairua (Spirit)

The children light the way, and we support their journey.

Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu. Adorn the bird with feathers and it will fly.
